I unsubscribed from Agent after the anti-Vit D rat poison post. Everything is toxic in high enough doses. On our honeymoon, my husband got sun poisoning; not just a sunburn, sun poisoning.
Normally I don’t unsubscribe because of a disagreement, because I’m always learning new stuff, and to do so, I have to find people who don’t think the way I am currently thinking, so I can have new material to expand upon.
The reason I made an exception this time is because last year I tried hyperdosing Vit D according to Coimbra’s protocol, but with more K than Coimbra recommends . And in so doing, I cured myself of RA.
I was actually disappointed. I was trying to cure myself of Hashimoto’s, which was a higher priority to me, and hyperdosing the D and the K—if you take a lot of D, you need a lot of K2 as well)—did not help that at all. So I was discouraged and feeling like a failure when my lab results came in, revealing my thyroid antibodies still high but RA antibodies were resolved; but my physician was losing her mind with happiness for me that I no longer had RA antibodies, or RA symptoms. It took me about a year, following the protocol.
I have a number of other significant health problems that hyperdosing D cannot help, because they’re genetic. But my life is so much better since I began hyperdosing D, and I knew Agent wouldn’t be interested in my story at all, because it isn’t sensational enough, and my curing myself on a vitamin nearly no one can get enough of unless they’re Lifeguards doesn’t support their theory, so I just decided to let Agent be his or her self, and I will be me, and enjoy life RA-free.
I now take 10-20,000 IU daily. Vit D is a hormone, not a vitamin, and your life will eventually suck without it, because it regulates all the other hiormones. When I couldn’t get estrogen HRT, I didn’t notice a difference while on the D hyperdose, whereas I had been dragging myself until my nurse suggested HRT. HRT helped, but hyperdosing D helped more.
Now if I could just figure out how to get free of Hashinoto’s.
I take Low Dose Naltrexone for Hashimotos. I quit for a month and antibodies went right up. I see a functional medicine doc. I agree about the gut health. Makes such a difference for everything. I quit low carb keto after 12 years and have run into loads of issues and problems, even going slow and adding simple carbs like white rice and fruit. I read a Mercola article around the time I wanted to quit. But he is sometimes very contradictory in his recommendations. I’ve lost some trust in him now.
Base it more on how you feel rather than your antibodies. I've seen people with high AB levels, free of symptoms and low AB levels but many symptoms. Some people can tolerate more carbs than others. But some whole food carbs will be useful such as for butyrate production.
For Hashimotos I suggest Dr David Brownstein videos and book Iodine "Why You Need it and Can't Live Without It". Most MD's don't have a clue how the thyroid works and what it needs. I have 5 female friends with severe thyroid problems because most MD's don't understand a full thyroid panel and their only solution is synthroid and desecrated thyroid hormone. Lynne Farrow has an amazing book "The Iodine Crisis" and on her website she lists iodine proficient practitioners by state. Almost everyone is iodine deficient especially women since estrogen inhibits iodine absorption. And you are correct on D. I take 10,000iu daily in Florida to achieve 83ng/ml. The best book I have come across on our health and how our bodies work is "Healing is Voltage - The Handbook" by Dr Jerry Tennant. He goes through most chronic diseases including the thyroid.
If an allopathic MD does do the right testing and it does indicate AI thyroiditis, they just refer that person to an endocrinologist who will give you the same meds they give to someone with non-AI thyroid disorders.
Thank you for the suggestion. I love Brownstein’s work and started there. Will definitely look into Farrow and Tennant’s books to see where to go from here.
This would be a good time for doctors to come together and speak up about Big Pharma, Insurances, medical bankruptcies, opiod pandemic and the rest of what destroyed our medical system.
People are atepping away and will more and more. Medicine has become a detriment to human kind. Not even our kids are save anymore.. how many shots from birth to 18??!!!
Change won't be easy but the alternative is worse.. the sooner the better.
Medical practitioners won't bc their paycheck depends upon them not speaking out. Additionally, they have been groomed from their med school days into the belief of medications and vaccines. Their god complex won't allow many of them to see any other viewpoint.
Hello, I enjoyed your post. I’ve recently tried to point out to a few ppl on X that having a few studies about possibly showing harm from “synthetic” vitamin d and the massive harm of carrots (yes carrots) does not mean you should be making dramatic claims as to what all ppl need to do. Does not mean you should ignore all other evidence to the contrary and start telling ppl vitamin an and synthetic/processed d is toxic. I think a lot of ppl are in a state of crazy from information overload and having their worldview shaken as to what they had previously thought to be true. I’ve been there myself I suppose, finally realized it’s far too complex and we’ve barely scratched the surface of knowing I think. Can do more so much more harm than good dealing in absolutes. I’ve chilled out on the evils of sugar even lol. Since health stuff was mostly censored when I was getting into it I mostly only proselytized my family rather than getting online. I think part of what the commenters fear or what she’s likely been told about synthetic vitamins is that since you’re not getting it from a whole food source, any vitamins you get out of its natural state may be a dose that’s toxic to your body or lacking the natural ratio of nutrients/cofactors that make it not toxic. There can definitely be truth to that but I feel the dogmatic ppl on either side of that debate get it wrong. Anyways thank you for your reasonable response and I just wanted to share my little piece. Also if you do read this, I was recently reading that taking more than 5000 iu of D a day will cause you to dump your melanin stores you’ve built up over the summer. (Pacific NW resident here) I think the explanation was that your healthy tan you get during the summer is supposed to tide you over during the winter. Didn’t really research it any further but has made me apprehensive about taking more than 5000 occasionally. I’m a believer that higher vitamin d levels are ideal.
If you do not supplement during the winter and do not get any via sun in the winter, D storage could possibly get you through a month or two, depending on your levels.
My January level was 90. In a northern climate. I cut back a bit in the supplement but should I continue? Spring is coming and I’ll get out. I still got a horrible flu on new year’s. First one since 1998.
Thank you for this informative article. I had seen the Agents article and hadn’t had time to research what they were saying about Vit D so I had questions that you effectively answered. I also really appreciate your listing of companies not tied to the pharmaceutical industry. All very helpful to know!
Very good. The medical community has been trying to demonize D3 for decades, because it is safe, effective and cheap. Although I live in Florida I take 10,000iu D3 daily to achieve 83ng/ml 25 hydroxy. Dr Renu Mahtani uses high dose D3 to treat many autoimmune diseases including MS (the Coimbra Protocol). I worked with her to do a liver gallbladder cleanse. Two great resources are grassrootshealth.net and vitaminDwiki.com. There are many double agents out there. If they start trashing iodine and magnesium you know who they are working for.
I tried it and it worked after about 30 sec. www.vitamindwiki.com. A Boeing engineer brought together all the listed publication on D. Good and bad. You can type in a condition and see the results.
I have seen these people, like Grace and that Agent person going on about supplements from a distance. At first glance, sounds exactly like what Big Pharma wants people to believe, i.e., don't take supplements, they don't work, only take Big Pharma poison. Of course, people like Grace and Agent leave out the last part but, who would benefit? Hmm.
Most of what you said in response, I had heard or read before. That's not anything new. Of course, you want nutrients from food. So then that depends on what you eat and how well your body is able to absorb them. Uptake, as I'm sure you know, is a problem for many people regardless of the form (natural/synthetic).
Apparently I have a problem with uptake of B12. Weird problem to have, I suppose. My Vitamin D levels are pretty low and that's despite having brought them up to 36 after years of taking liquid D3/K2. My IFM doctor says that number should be about 70-75.
Now, my wife is an acupuncturists and, like you, a minor part of her business is selling herb formulas and a few supplements (e.g., pre-/pro-biotics). I do her books and I can tell you that such sales are a pain in the ass. I always advise her to offload those sales to other people. She makes almost nothing doing it, in some cases literally does lose money, and the inventory management, accounting, and tax reporting is just not worth it. I have literally told her that, if something happens to me, close 100% of your inventory that year and never look back, it's not worth it and you won't know how to do those books.
It's basically her charity for her patients, and she never even mentions anything like that. And OBTW, precisely zero of the supplements my wife sells are sourced from Big Pharma or its affiliates. Big Pharma has been trying desperately to get the FDA to ban OTC supplements and Chinese herbs since forever.
In fact they made a renewed push to ban different supplements during the covid hoax. So, when I hear people trying to "warn" others away from supplements, I see right through that. I wish other people would see that. But, unlike people that apparently have an agenda at hand, I also don't "push" anything on anyone and neither does my wife.
That agent person, and a couple others on Substack, seem to have that agenda. That "don't do anything alternative" sounding theme. qui bono?
People don't realize that the pharmaceutical industry wants to turn supplements into drugs and take away your access and choice so I'm very wary of people who say all supplements are poison.
I actually have genetic mutation B12 issues so I get it…i think around 60 Ng/ml is the sweet spot for a generally healthy individual. I agree on the hassle part with your wife. I stopped selling supplements directly from me to my in person clients as I don't like the bookkeeping part of the job and it was a time/ money loss.
Since you mention supplement manufacturers with no ties to BigPharma, I’m curious as to whether you are familiar with Life Extension and what, if any, ties it has to BigPharma. I have used their supplements in the past and read their monthly magazine in which they are often very critical of Pharma and current medical protocols. However, I have been suspicious of their lack of response to the mRNA shots, which has caused me to wonder if they have yielded to Pharma or government pressure.
I almost started to buy Agent substacks take on vitamin D3 but then a friend reminded me that even water can kill you in high amounts and I realized she's right. Too much of anything can kill. Most medications on the market are made from mixtures of synthetic and natural products. Some people need to take pharmaceuticals and some do not. We all have individual health needs. I believe there is enough science to indicate vitamin D3 is a necessity regardless of where you get it though I do think more natural forms are better. My mother is largely immobile and does not get outside very much so someone like her must supplement with d3. I do find it crazy that doctors give scripts for D in the form of D2 which is inferior to D3.
I don't get it either when there's enough research to support using D3 rather than D2. I have found that some medical doctors prescribe a bolus D2 dose if levels are severely low but then don't retest or suggest daily maintenance. Hence why a westernized medical doctor should avoid supplement protocols since they are not trained in it.
I'm just going to copy and paste something I posted elsewhere in response to someone who mentioned Mr Objectivity after I comment on your poster's accusation that you can't be objective because you sell supplements: Guess what? Agent131711's Substack is monetized. That means he makes money from what he writes. And few things sell around here like the angry postings of someone who's going to "tell the truth that no one else is telling you, so you'd better listen to me". Furthermore, objectivity isn't necessarily a given from someone who's obviously very angry.
"That comes from a substack guy who calls himself Agent131711. I don't know if he's actually an idiot or if he's just trying to be a shock-grifter, but I tried reading his vitamin D screed more than once and I had to put my rolling eyeballs in a sling by the time I read a few paragraphs. Just to give you an idea of how bogus his interpretations of things are, he helpfully gives you a link to "PROOF" that the US government is planning to kill us with synthetic vitamins: because a guy at NASA gave a lecture to defense industry professionals back in 2001 about possible future warfare scenarios."
Anyone who wants to read about what vitamin D can do, they can go to the Vitamin D wiki. There you'll find over 15,000 pages with as much information that you want to understand how and why it works along with links to thousands of studies that demonstrate that it works for hundreds of health conditions.
I agree with you that everyone is different, and each of us should do what works to optimize our health. I read Agent's "vitamin D is rat poison" post, but after reading the labels on the various rat poisons available at a local farm store and finding no mention of vitamin D in any form, I haven't bothered to read anything else that he has to say. I also believe that unless you live in the tropics, you are probably D deficient and should be supplementing, especially in the winter. I'm basing this on my own personal experience from having my D3 blood level checked at the end of summer when I was brown as a berry, and finding that my D3 level was surprisingly low. So I supplement with 10,000 iu of D3 daily in the winter, along with 125 mcg of K2, since they work synergistically, and I want my calcium in my bones and not in my soft tissues.
A recent article caught my eye about animal studies done with much higher doses of K2 showing various benefits, and wondering why the recommended daily amount of K2 for humans is so low. It got me thinking and also wondering if higher blood levels of D3 would necessitate higher levels of K2 to prevent soft tissue calcification. Do you have an opinion or any information about how these two vitamins work together that you're willing to share, or maybe consider this topic for a future article?
Thank you for everything that you write - it's always interesting and informative. Here's a link to the article I mentioned.
Thank you for sharing that link. I skimmed it and the higher dose perspective is interesting. We get a little from food, depending on our diet but more importantly, it's vital to have a balanced microbiome since this is where K2 is made. Honestly, in this case, I think a person with a healthy gut does not need higher dosing. From my perspective I would encourage dietary inclusions and focus on gut health and may supplement short term if warranted. If we produce enough K2 we don't need to have it in the D supplement but considering overall gut health of the larger population, perhaps they would benefit from K2 supplementation.
Thank you for this post. Agent has some good points about synthetic “vitamins” and so do you. At this point, I am on the fence. However, winter in NC is much like winter in Tennessee, so I am cautiously taking a high-quality vitamin D supplement as there is no way to get adequate sunshine. My current feeling is that lower quality supplements that contain many harmful “inactive ingredients and dyes” are probably worse than taking nothing at all. Besides D, I take magnesium glycinate as it has pretty much cured my occasional atrial fib and nocturnal muscle cramps.
Have you tried CDS for your psoriasis? It’s supposed to be very effective for that, both topically and orally.
I haven't had any need to address my psoriasis as I've been free of it for over 20 years. It appears vitamin D has been effective. I have my D blood spot test so now I just need to do it. But I have my MMS ingredients on hand as so far that's simpler for me than CDS.
I am currently taking 5,000 IU daily with a day or two of 10,000 thrown in. I aim for between 60-80 Ng/mL When I've tested in the past I hover right around 60. Some people can do well with a lower result but I'm guessing I fell below 60 and may need to be around there due to my AI condition.
I unsubscribed from Agent after the anti-Vit D rat poison post. Everything is toxic in high enough doses. On our honeymoon, my husband got sun poisoning; not just a sunburn, sun poisoning.

I use grassrootshealth.net as a resource frequently. I have not heard of the other so thank you for sharing.
Doctors will soon be hated as much as politicians. Won’t be able to safely walk the streets
Medicare stopped paying for vitamin D testing. I wonder why?
They want the aging population sick. Adequate D wouldn't help that agenda.

What dose are you taking and what blood levels do you shoot for?
I am currently taking 5,000 IU daily with a day or two of 10,000 thrown in. I aim for between 60-80 Ng/mL When I've tested in the past I hover right around 60. Some people can do well with a lower result but I'm guessing I fell below 60 and may need to be around there due to my AI condition.
