Mercola-Dinkov interview on estrogen-were they both wrong? This specialist thinks so!
Should you take BHRT estrogen? More on this confusing topic.
Health can be a very confusing topic. We hear many opinions, schools of thought, and varying study outcomes on the same subject.
I posted a while back the Mercola-Dinkov interview in which they discussed that estrogen replacement therapy after menopause could be cancer-causing and that it should be avoided.
This topic has been important to me since, on my mother’s side of the family, all the women have died from female-related cancers such as breast, ovarian, and uterine. I took BHRT estrogen for quite some time, had my hormones checked yearly via a 24-hour urine test, and got thermography screening exams.
I went off my BHRT (except for progesterone ) before the Mercola-Dinkov interview for various reasons, and then the interview information reassured me that I was on the right track.
Now, I am not so sure.
Here is the link to the previous post where I shared the interview's highlights.
Updates regarding taking BHRT estrogen and the two experts who suggest they could be cancer-causing
Below is an excerpt from a follow-up interview Dr. Mercola did with Georgi Dinkov in which they discussed four beneficial hormones. I copied this section from page 16 of the transcript because I think the points made below are very important to know.
But then I read this substack (Agile Thinking) and Berkson’s rebuttal to that interview, which disagreed with Mercola and Dinkov's discussion of estrogen and cancer. Berkson is a chiropractor and hormone specialist and a big proponent of BHRT.
She looks amazing at her age!
I am frustrated that when I think we know more information about something, we realize we do not. The more I learn, the less I know about a topic and the more questions I have.
In an osteoporosis post by a Midwestern Doctor, they stated that:
“while supplemental estrogen appears to help prevent bone loss, we don’t focus on this approach because excessive and unbalanced estrogen frequently causes cancers.”
So, what does that statement above mean?
Are they (I do not know if the doctor is male or female) talking about synthetic or BHRT?
What about un-excessive and balanced estrogen supplementation monitored via annual hormone testing and a practitioner evaluation?
Will that type of estrogen replacement therapy increase cancer risk, too? (I wanted to ask this question in the Midwestern doctor’s post comment section, but alas, I could not since I am not a paid subscriber)
Do all post-menopausal women need BHRT?
I know many post-menopausal women who do not take any BHRT who have not had cancer and are still healthy, energetic, active, and thriving.
Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy should be an individualized choice and should be discussed with a professional who specializes in BHRT.
Some women may only need progesterone and DHEA, whereas others may need estrogens, too. Get a 24-hour hormone test, whether the DUTCH dried urine test or another test that requires you to collect all urine in 24 hours and send in a vial from that collection.
Based on your test results and symptoms, such as hair loss, fatigue, muscle loss, and so forth, your practitioner can determine the best approach for you.
Your diet also plays a significant role. Avoid foods such as conventional dairy and meats that are injected with hormones. Minimize hormone-disrupting chemicals vis plastics, herbicides, and pesticides.
Bottom Line
I question the data from the Mercola interview and the Midwestern doctor’s estrogen comment. However, I still think that hormone replacement therapy is an individual choice and should be based on accurate testing.
Have you taken BHRT, including estrogens? Has a doctor ever told you that you should not take any hormone replacement therapy?

No doctor has ever mentioned me being post menopausal. No doctor has ever suggested hormone replacement. No doctor has ever said anything about hormones to me in my entire life.
I haven't read Dr Elizabeth Bright's book yet, but I agree that women have been aging for thousands of years and only recently has it been detrimental to our health. Why? I think a high fat, low carb diet is our OG diet and doesn't need supplementation.
