Many years ago a chiropractor told me that there's an acupressure point located above your right collar bone. If someone is having an appendicitis attack, someone else can get behind them and squeeze the trapezius muscle firmly for a few minutes, with their fingertips slightly above the collar bone, and the appendix sphincter muscle will relax, and the appendicitis attack will subside. I've never had an opportunity to try this, but if it's true, it could be life saving under some circumstances. If you know anyone who is trained in acupressure you might ask them about it.

My older brother was diagnosed with stomach cancer about a year after they ripped his appendix out.
