Currently you cannot buy the Berkey black filters
Berkey news and other filter options
If you have not heard the news, Berkey black filters have been unavailable—information as to the reason why can be found at this link.

Sadly, a quality product that removes heavy metals and other toxins from your drinking water is hit with this when the EPA cannot even get herbicides and pesticides out of our drinking water and off our foods.
The EPA says the silver in the black filters is a pesticide. Berkey started as a solution in disasters and emergencies. If I did not have potable water, I could take dirty pond or river water where I live and filter it through my Berkey to make it safe for human consumption.
With all the toxins in our water, including the low dose of pharmaceuticals you get in city water, we need to ask why the EPA is coming after a clean drinking water option. Will the other quality brands be next?
I fully support Berkey and hope they come out winning in their lawsuit.
I have recommended the Berkey filtration system for years, but now consumers cannot get the black filters, making your Berkey ineffective once your black filter needs to be replaced. I have three Berkeys, so I understand. I wish their website would share this information, but it is not and has frustrated many purchasers.
UPDATE: there are still some black filters available at https://www.bigberkeywaterfilters.com
It looks like they have dramatically raised their black filter pricing, so if you do not have a Berkey system, you may want to consider an alternative filtration option. The black filters on their site cost $230 and I am pretty sure I did not spend that much in recent years.
Zero Water is an excellent option for water filtration. I had their pitcher when they first originated, but I liked the Berkey better.
Zero Water now has numerous pitcher and dispenser options.

Mike Adams tested this filter and many others for heavy metal removal, such as arsenic, mercury, and lead.

I’m in the UK & use Wrekin filters for my Berkey.

Excellent company
What are your thoughts with Berkey using a pesticide to protect the longevity of their filters?
