Thanks for this! Food labeling is difficult to understand in general, but egg labeling takes it to a whole new level of confusion. Very informative article!
I also read an article about statins were being overused and had something to do lowering cholesterol actually made spike protein worse?! I can't remember exactly, but basically another way to trash our health. I just remember reading it thinking GEEZ...now I understand the huge focus on using statins to lower cholesterol! Shocker...NOT! I love our fresh eggs! I burp/taste/hover in my gut alllll day eggs from stores or ESPECIALLY like IHOP! I can't do alot...like everyday I mean...or I gain weight because I don't digest/breakdown protein well. On supplements for that now. Doctor said it could take 2-5 years to correct. 🙄 And get this...I felt this back in my very early 30's and started taking enzymes. Then I read taking enzymes cause your body not to digest on it's own, so I quit and just lived with my protein intake issues/limitations. Doctor said that's absolutely not true and exact opposite. I'm sure, ESPECIALLY since rona, I'm not the only person thinking...has everything been a damn lie for the last 20 years! I know, I know...the answer is YES! 😡
I am AMAZED at how much better my health suddenly became once I started making SURE I got tons of dietary CHOLESTOROL every day! Saved me from a wheelchair!
I wish people would stop believing the low cholesterol myth equating with health. But people cannot believe that the truth is opposite of what western medicine tells them.
Couple of comments .. SOY sheesh. It just burns my bacon when Docs give nutritional advice.
We are lucky to get the OrgaNICK brand here and they are a pretty good price too. Soon be able to visit my friend in another state and get LOTS of eggs from them.
Once my grandmother passed, I stopped eating perogis-hers were the best, nothing compared. But was a bit heavier in my perogi eating days so not eating them isn't such a bad thing!
Lately I've been buying Nellie's eggs. Looking at the carton, they are free range and humane certified, but not organic. So I went to their website and found that they have a "sister" brand, Pete and Gerry's, which is organic, available in my area, and rated on Cornucopia as four eggs, so I'll be looking for them next time I shop.
For several years, I've been using Life Line Screening for medical testing. In 2020 my TC was 174, and HDL/TC was 2.7. Recently the numbers were 126 and 2.4. The main changes I've made during this period have been to eliminate processed foods and seed oils as much as possible. I still eat plenty of eggs, meat and whole milk products. I don't think fat consumption is the problem, what kind of fat is. I agree with you - MDs should stay in their lane. They learn practically nothing about nutrition in med school.
I am not an MD nor your nutritionist but if my TC was 126 I would be concerned. Personally, As a 57 year old post menopausal women with a TC in the 200s, I know that having higher not lower TC has been shown to support healthy aging, increase lifespan and support brain and mood health.
I just recently got those results, and it surprised me and made me wonder if that's too low. Also, since I retired four years ago it's typical for me to eat one meal a day, in the late afternoon or early evening. If I do get hungry earlier, I usually snack on nuts or sometimes have an omelet. I wonder if the OMAD eating schedule can lower your lipids like this? Also, my ALT is 17 and my AST is 29, so I don't really see any liver issues.

Thank you for sorting this out. Best to optimize our health with proper information about what we're buying.
All of that said, even eating crappy eggs is better than trying to live on plants alone;-)
Yes, true.

Colleen Huber has a good article about this.

Thank you. I'll take a look at it.
Thanks!
We buy Vital which had a 4 rating. I sometimes get near a farm and buy from them, but mostly it's a store bought product.
