An app that can be used to identify restaurants that do not use seed oils.
If you eat out frequently or are a frequent traveler, this may be a useful app
I came across a post yesterday sharing this app that can help identify dining options that avoid rancid oils such as soy, vegetable, and canola.
The dining options are color-coded, and you can search by restaurant name and city or by diet preference (e.g., vegan, paleo) or specific ingredients. The darkest green marker indicates the restaurant has no seed oils on the premises.
The app has a 7-day free trial and afterward costs $34.99 yearly.
If you eat out frequently or travel often, trying out this app may be worth it.
I did not sign up since we do not live in a populated area or are close to larger cities. However, we do have a few trips coming up in 2024, so I may consider the app in the near future.
I am curious, though, so if anyone uses this app, can you share if you found it helpful in avoiding seed oils?
The one downside is that it could still be fake oil if the restaurant uses generic olive oil, which most do, as they buy it in bulk, specifically for restaurants.
Olive oil can also be rancid. In my early 20s, I waitressed and remember the clear glass bottles of oil and vinegar for salads. I still recall pouring the oil into the bottles and that rancid smell.
Sadly, avocado oil is also adulterated.
Overall, I think this app is a great idea since one of the worst culprits of eating out is the oils that your food is prepared in.
Regardless, do not be afraid to ask questions such as what the food is prepared in (butter, what types of oils, and so forth).

Thank you! This is helpful. My wife and I avoid eating out when we can because of this very issue. I wish it was a free app, but it is a good sign that there is an app at all. It signals that maybe more people are paying attention to the seed oil issue now.
Thank you for this! They can fry MY food in BUTTER, LARD, BACON GREESE, etc.;-) I am DONE with plant oils.
