Why doctors are trained the way they are. They were forced down this narrow path over a hundred years ago.

Modern day medical professionals have no idea how they were led in this direction that did not teach anything about nutritition, herbs, homeopathy and more.

I appreciate the feedback because what I see as important in the health space may be completely different from what you think is vital to know.

How did our current healthcare sick model come about?

Drugs (in most, not all, cases) do not cure but are used to manage a disease or its symptoms. This is not absolute. For example, antibiotics can be lifesaving in deadly bacterial infections.

I watched the Epoch Times movie In the Shadow of Flexner.

I wanted to share a few highlights and a little background on the Flexner Report for those unfamiliar with this document that altered the course of healthcare.

The Impact of the Flexner Report

Abraham Flexner, an unemployed person at that time with no healthcare background, was tasked with reporting on the teaching methods of all 155 current medical/health schools in the U.S. in 1910.

Abraham was recruited through his brother, Simon Flexner, a physician who served as the first Director of the Rockefeller Institute for Medical Research.

Flexner’s report described schools that should be closed because specific criteria were unmet, such as inadequate lab equipment or being small.

This set the stage for the closures of the schools that did not meet the criteria in the Flexner report. The Rockefellers supported certain schools via large donations. For the donations, the schools agreed that the Rockefellers could choose some of their own men to sit on the school boards and guide the decision-making process since they realized there was much money to be had in modern medicine and pharmaceuticals.

This is why nutrition is not taught in medical schools: It goes against the foundations that these schools were built upon. This is ironic because diet is the number one factor affecting mortality, according to Dr. Katz. He states in the video that the number one risk factor used to be smoking, and number two was diet, but diet moved to the top of the list.

Schools that incorporated Native American herbal remedies, TCM, and homeopathy could no longer compete and afford to stay open. The school shutdowns included schools specifically for African American students.

Those who supported the “alternative” schools that remained open during this time were labeled as quacks. About half of the schools were forced to close after the Flexner report.

You can understand how this shaped the mindset of people wanting to care for people’s health and how it guided finding a job after graduation. If you went to a school that taught homeopathy, you most likely would be jobless after graduation. Therefore, young men were forced down this single, narrow path of healthcare.

This led to the Reductionist Approach, in which medical doctors were taught to focus on only one problem at a time. If you went to the doctor for a headache and a stomach ache, they would only address one issue.

This is ridiculous since many symptoms are often related to the exact underlying root cause, but you can see how it led to doctors specializing in a focus area. For instance, if you have psoriasis, you go to the dermatologist, then to the psychiatrist for your depression medications, and then to the gastroenterologist for your GERD.

Yet, all three issues may be symptoms of the same underlying dietary imbalances.

A few other takeaways from In the Shadow of Flexner

If a medical doctor does not prescribe “enough” drugs, they will notify you.

“Pharma-lunches” include food and videos showing you new drugs set to relaxing music. (to me, it sounds like it is inducing a hypnotic state).

Since doctors usually have only 5 minutes to see a patient, a prescription is quicker. Doctors refer to this as the “ticket to go,” signaling the end of the appointment.

Medical professionals will argue that the reason for the rising rates of chronic health conditions is because people live longer. But this logic is faulty because in people between the ages of 18 and 34, 22% have more than one chronic condition.

The influence of drugs is felt in every medical school since corporate entities want to increase shareholders’ profits.

Big Pharma is powerful, and they know it. The drug Vioxx killed more people than those who died on 9/11, yet the drug manufacturer only received fines.

They cause death while at the same time making massive profits, then get hit with fines, which seem like a lot to the public but are minor compared to what they profited, and each time, no one is prosecuted. They continue with the same charade over and over.

When drug prices rise, the manufacturer will state that they require more money for research when, in reality, much of the research is done using the public’s money.

If research is done using our tax-paying dollars and the published articles are on NIH, which, again, we fund, why are there so many articles we cannot read but would have to pay a large sum of money to have 24 access to? Isn’t that like paying twice for one thing?
