Updated and Corrected Post on Berkey Water Filters. Boroux is NOT teaming up with Berkey International!
This post is updated, corrected and revised.
I recently posted that Berkey has a new black carbon filter option; however, what I stated regarding Berkey and Boroux teaming up to provide a black carbon filter solution was incorrect.
They have not teamed up to provide a carbon filter solution.
James Enterprise, a Berkey distributor, and Berkey International have parted ways. Berkey International is NOT offering the Boroux filter as an alternative solution. Instead, they are still working on resolving this issue with the EPA so that they can continue selling their quality filters.
Some suppliers still have some black filters available, and you can still get them via Amazon from some suppliers. However, Amazon also has counterfeit filters, so check out the supplier links first.
Always do the red dye test with your new Berkey filters to ensure they are filtering. If you are trying to extend the lifespan of your current filters, you may want to do a red dye test to be sure the filter does not need to be replaced.
Sadly, they have to deal with this attack from the EPA. I hope they do come out on top because the Berkey filter removes much more than the Boroux filter since the Boroux does not remove microorganisms and has no intention of updating its filter to do so.
I know people are uncertain because the EPA is saying the black carbon filter from Berkey is a pesticide. This does not make sense if the black Berkey filter removes pesticides from the water. Does the filter then add a pesticide to the water?
Why are they attacking a company that makes our water healthier and safer to drink?
Unless I see different evidence, I lean towards trusting Berkey rather than the EPA.
For instance, why has the EPA not examined the role of an entire formulation and its effects on the human body rather than the isolated ingredients? This article states that Roundup is more harmful than glyphosate in isolation.

And why do other countries ban some harmful toxins, but the EPA in the US says they are safe for Americans?
In my opinion, the EPA does not care about your health, mine, or future generations; instead, it cares about supporting big industry.
What about you? Do you trust the EPA to make good decisions to safeguard your health?
I love Berkey water filters and was definitely interested in this product until I asked about the source of the carbon and was told that it was proprietary. To me, that means it comes from bone char. There's no way I'd touch this product. At least with Berkey's filters, I know that the carbon is vegan.
