Giving Tuesday-Nutrition Information You Can Use
Tid bits of useful health information you can apply in this post. Thank you for reading my substacks-I appreciate you!
I wanted to give you some nutrition and health information you can use today. Thank you to all of you for being interested in your health!
The information focuses on how to support heart and cardiovascular health regardless of any heart health concerns that you have.
The Importance of Nitric Oxide for Heart Health
· High iron =low nitric oxide (NO)=HTN
· High BP may need NO support, not meds
· CVD and HTN= low NO
· Low sodium and high potassium on blood work may indicate the need for more salt in the diet
· Mouthwash-since NO is produced by bacteria in the mouth, mouthwash can reduce NO
· Exercise for 30 3x per week or more can increase NO
· Nitrate foods to add to the diet to support heart health and NO production include celery, lettuce, beets, spinach, and arugula.
· NOS rs 2070744 risk C-is a genetic risk factor for CVD; rs 891512 risk A, risk of HTN, rs 1799983 risk T, , risk CVmay need more Omega-3 in the diet; rs 1800779 risk A, is a genetic risk factor for HTN.
· Beet juice = will increase NO and support bile production and healthy liver.
Side Note: A chronic runny nose may indicate liver congestion.
· Within range iron levels on blood work and high ferritin are still a risk for CVD
· High iron means oxidative stress (think apple exposed to air; rust)
· Low CO10 can induce muscle pain. Hence, why muscle pain is so common when taking a statin because statins reduce CoQ10. (If over 40 years old, supplement in ubiquinol form, not COQ10, for greater absorption).
