Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays
During this time, I am posting less, having less screen time, and spending more time with loved ones. I hope you do the same.
I will return after the holidays with more valuable posts on taking care of your health so that you are less dependent on allopathic medicine.
Healthy Holiday Tips
If you read my posts, you are probably on your way to a healthy diet that is right for you. It is okay to enjoy some splurges over the holidays. Use it as a reminder of how you feel when you stick to a healthy diet and when you indulge.
Since sugar can lead to a weaker immune system and inflammation, here are some ways to counter the effects of sugar over the holidays.
Add in raw garlic whenever you can! Add it to salad dressings and hummus on a baked potato, mix it into your scrambled eggs, or sprinkle on your buttered toast.
Add antimicrobial herbs to your cooking, such as rosemary, thyme, and oregano.
Sip on an herbal infusion (instead of wine) while doing all the holiday prep work. Choose a nourishing herb such as red clover, comfrey leaf, linden, or nettle leaf (nettle is my favorite as an all-around nutrient-dense/nourishing herb, but linden is an excellent choice for virus prevention). Place an ounce of the one herb into a mason jar and fill the jar with boiling water. Steep it overnight. The next day, strain the herb and sip the infusion throughout the day (it will be suitable for up to 36 hours).
To avoid holiday weight gain and still enjoy those treats! Add intermittent fasting a couple of days of the week when you know you will have days of indulgence. Do not add in IF if your diet is still processed. But if it is a healthy, balanced diet, add a 13-16 hour overnight fast. How long you can fast depends on your health. For instance, if you have blood sugar dysregulation, you do not want to fast longer than 12 hours-balance blood sugar first.
The picture below is a reminder of what can happen when you take a long list of medications. The last line says it all-most people would rather pop more and more pills than get off the couch and toss out the junk food.
This is not you. Thank you for reading my posts on dispelling health myths and taking charge of your health!
