A case of misdiagnosis and tragic results; Asthma and leaky gut
What can happen when you stick a label on someone without digging deeper; the gut-lung connection
Lupus Misdiagnosed as Schizophrenia
The link below provides a shocking story of how one young woman was diagnosed with schizophrenia and went into a catatonic state for many years until a doctor did lab work and discovered she had lupus.
Not until they started to treat her lupus did she come out of the catatonic state, missing out on many years of her life because no one looked deeper.
This is an extreme case, but it highlights how the medical establishment may quickly label someone and prescribe medication rather than taking a deeper dive into root causes.
Mental health is complicated, and it has become easy to diagnose and prescribe rather than spend time listening to the person to understand what is going on and run the correct tests.
If you want to dig deep past the label a doctor placed upon you, contact me for services.
Since I am completing my dissertation and meeting with participants, I will not resume seeing clients until sometime in August. If you wish to be placed on a waitlist, email me at karen@trufoodsnutrition.com with your contact information.
While on the waitlist, you can still complete the paperwork so that I will have it to review so we can get started right away when I resume seeing new clients.

Seeking Adults in Colorado with Asthma For a Free Leaky Gut Test For my Dissertation
I am conducting my research for my dissertation on asthma and offering a free test for people with asthma. The test is a biomarker for leaky gut. Participants also receive a $25 gift card (Natural Grocers if not in my local area) and their test results.
Currently, I am seeking participants in my Pagosa Springs area in Colorado, but I may have to broaden my search.
If you are 18 years or older, live in Colorado, are diagnosed with asthma, and are interested in participating in my study if I start seeking people outside my area, email me at karen@trufoodsnutrition.com or my school email on the flyer.
I am exploring the connection between gut and lung health to determine if people with asthma have a greater rate of increased intestinal permeability than the general population.
My tentative flyer for outside my local area of Colorado is below:
I will return to weekly posts once I am done with my dissertation.
